Rematch developer Sloclap released an update roadmap on July 18 detailing major changes and new features to be added to the game in the coming months. Released on June 19, Rematch is the studio's third outing and a major departure from its previous martial arts-focused action games, Absolver and Sifu. However, Sloclap's arcadey take on soccer shares many of the elements that made its earlier games so engaging, requiring decisive actions and fast reflexes from players to succeed.
The shift from third-person action combat to team sports has proven to be a major success for Sloclap, as Rematch surpassed one million players less than 24 hours post launch. The game puts players in control of a single position, such as attacker, defender, and goalkeepeer, in online matches with teams ranging from three to five players each. As of this writing, Rematch only offers ranked competitive queues for 5v5 matches, but Sloclap's recent update roadmap has promised more options for players in the near future.

Rematch Review
While there's a lot to love about Sifu developer Sloclap's new multiplayer soccer game Rematch, it scores a few own goals.
PostsSloclap's developer update for Rematch reveals numerous upcoming features that are either in the planning stages or currently being developed, including crossplay, player reporting, and new ranked queues, among other quality-of-life improvements. The developer previously called adding crossplay to Rematch a top priority, and now the team has finally named September as the feature's release window, coinciding with the launch of the game's first official season. The September update will also see the addition of in-game tools for reporting players for toxic behaviors. Sloclap's update says a new ranked queue is in development, but does not specify what the competitive mode will be nor is an estimated release window provided.
Crossplay and New Ranked Queues are Coming to Rematch
CloseMouse and keyboard improvements are planned for an upcoming patch, specifically to address tap aiming and add mouse sensitivity settings and an option for aiming with WASD. According to the developer update, Sloclap is considering community feedback regarding the ranking and progression system for Rematch to create the most balanced experience possible without sacrificing players' ability to queue up with friends regardless of their ranks. Potential changes include tweaks to demotion protection and skill-based matchmaking.
Although the game has only been out for a month, Rematch has received consistent support from Sloclap via hotfixes and developer transparency. In a blog released alongside the game, Sloclap shared several upcoming features to be added to Rematch, including player-run clubs, a leaderboard, and a tournament mode. Although the July 19 update roadmap is vague on details surrounding the new competitive mode currently in development, it's possible that the new queue could be the tournament mode teased just a month ago.
