When we recently ran across this 2003 Porsche 911 Carrera 4S Cabriolet for under $7,000 we were a little shocked. After all, even a Porsche 996 should command a much higher price. That naturally made us immediately wonder why the asking price is so low.
Conspiracy theories about the Porsche 911 S/T have been blown apart.
But looking at the ad in detail for this Porsche 911, which only has 69,000 miles on the clock plus a manual transmission, we’ve realized why it’s not being sold for more like $30,000. That information will either pique your interest or get you to move on without thinking about this car twice.
In good condition, this all-wheel-drive Porsche is one hot ride. But as you’ve probably guessed already, this one isn’t in decent shape.

Instead, it’s been seriously damaged in some sort of crash. The rear, especially the driver’s side, looks almost immaculate. But down the passenger’s side is damage and the front corner is especially bad – that’s probably where the initial impact happened.
The passenger front wheel has been sheared off. The headlight is also gone and the bumper cover is damaged but might be salvageable.
While you can see all the body damage, which is plainly obvious, as well as some mechanical problems with the front wheel shorn off, what would concern us more is if the frame and other mechanical components are still in good condition.

You don’t really know about all that until you start stripping off body panels and such, so buying this Porsche could be a bit of a gamble. As the ad says, it’s either a project car or a parts donor.
Would you take a swing at this Porsche 996 Carrera 4S Cabriolet? Or would you pass on this one?
