Selena Gomez appeared on the most recent episode of the Therapusspodcast, where she spoke to host Jake Shane about her relationship with fiancé Benny Blanco. The pair got engaged last year, but haven’t really started to plan their wedding, according to Gomez.

“I couldn’t be more excited,” she told Shane of their upcoming nuptuals. “There’s so much happening at the moment with [Blanco] working on some projects that he has to wrap up and we just have things we want to finish and our own personal endeavors before we get into all the nitty gritty.I just have really never felt so sure about something and I also don’t want to jinx it by saying that.”

Shane asked Gomez how the couple first met. She explained that they knew each other from the music industry. “I feel like he was an acquaintance, if that makes sense,” she said. “To be honest [we weren’t] besties, I just thought he was nice and then we did a few songs together.”

Things got more serious when Gomez worked with Blanco on 2023 single “Single Soon.” “We spoke for two hours and I asked him to hook me up with anybody that he knew that was cute and he was like, ‘Oh we do these things, these dinner nights. You should come,’” she said. “And next thing you know we’re dating. But he was terrified in the beginning cause he was like, ‘It’s work and it’s complicated and people are going to get mad,’ and I’m like, ‘I don’t give a s–t; kiss me.’”

Elsewhere on the podcast, Gomez spoke about her cosmetics company Rare Beauty, which supports mental health organizations with a portion of its sales. She explained that her personal connection to mental health challenges made her want to give back.

“I tried to share my story in hopes that it would be something to help others, and I think I did that when I admitted that I had struggled through my bipolar diagnosis,” she said. “So that was more of a release for me. And then I realized anything that I touch or anything I’m a part of, it has to give back and some sort of element. And that just always has been my key demographic – it’s people who don’t feel seen or heard or, even know what’s going on and in their own mind.”

She added of her own journey to getting healthy, “I just believe in therapy. I’m on medication and I feel really lucky that I’m in the position that I’m in now and I believe in all of that.”

Blanco also recently appeared on Therapuss and confirmed that the couple’s wedding plans are moving very slowly. “We both need to chill,” he explained. “We’ve both been working so much.” He added, “I just want to lay in bed and forget what day it is. We’ve been in bed just watching stuff… With Selena, I can do it all day. She makes me want to hang out and cuddle, just watch things, just eat food, and have piles of food around us and have the best time ever.”

Earlier this year, Blanco toldRolling Stonethat Gomez has “planned a new wedding in her head” every day since they got engaged. “We’re very much ‘take it one day at a time’-type of people. We’re still not over this moment. Literally, while you were talking, she was sitting there staring at her ring,” he said. Gomez added: “Also, I genuinely feel like this is such a special time that we get to apply it to this album and really just pour our heart into it, and completely translate what we feel and bring it to the world. That’s my main focus right now, at least.”
