(PIKES PEAK, Colorado) — With summer kicking off, the Pikes Peak Highway is opening its monthly sunrise openings for those who want to take an early drive to the fourteener.

July 12 and 18: The Gateway will open at 4:30 a.m. with last entry at 6:30 a.m.
August 1: The Gateway will open at 4:30 a.m. with last entry at 6:30 a.m.
September 27: The Gateway will open at 5:00 a.m. with last entry at 6:30 a.m.

Advanced tickets are required for shuttle tickets or a timed entry permit per vehicle, and admission fees must be secured online in advance.
Those who attend the early event have the chance to enjoy clear weather, as afternoons on Pikes Peak can get dicey due to cloudy conditions or lightning. Visitors are reminded to dress warmly and to skip flip-flops if attending the sunrise openings.
