'Farmhouse Fixer's Jonathan Knight Shared an Idea for New Gardening Series on HGTV

Jonathan Knight's show Farmhouse Fixer on HGTV might have been canceled, but this New Kid on the Block is rolling with the punches. Knight recently shared an idea for a new series he thinks would work for HGTV, and he's really excited about the prospect of bringing the "garden" aspect back to the Home and Garden Television channel.

Knight opened up in a July interview with Country Living magazine about potentially bringing a gardening series to HGTV. “I’ve always urged the people at HGTV to bring the garden aspect back to HGTV,” Knight explained to the outlet. “They say the garden shows don’t do well, but I think if there was a really good one, it would do well.”

The boy band star went on to add that people don't necessarily garden as much as they once did, but that hasn't stopped him from coming up with "a few ideas I’m pitching that will be more farm-based." Instead of focusing on "drama and stupidity," the HGTV star would prefer to have a series where it's "just a reality show tagging along with me while I do my daily chores and hopefully teach people things along the way, that would be cool.”

Knight's idea to host a farm-based gardening series on HGTV might well have come from fan suggestions. When the Farmhouse Fixer star shared the news that his series had been canceled in an Instagram post back in May, several of his fans commented that they would love to see Knight work his magic in the garden. “You need an HGTV show on how to plan and build a farm/greenhouse!” pne user commented, “I’d love to watch and get helpful tips.”

Another follower added, “I would love to grow some of my own food but have no idea how to start. I wish HGTV had a little more G in their programming!”

Knight is not the only HGTV star who is soft-pitching potential series idea outside of a network meeting. Home Town stars Ben and Erin Napier got fans all excited when they took to Instagram to pitch their idea for a series where the couple watch movies and discuss their thoughts on set designs. A concept which would be especially amazing if they focused on Erin's idea of watching Nancy Meyer's movies.

It's a strange time at HGTV, but maybe it's also a time to take big swings. Like Jonathan Knight's idea to bring gardening back to the network.
