A voice actor from Genshin Impact has officially confirmed that her role will be recast as of Version 5.8, bidding farewell to a beloved Mondstadt character. The popular RPG from HoYoverse has seen a wide variety of characters join the game's roster throughout the nearly five years since its launch. Genshin Impact currently boasts a roster standing at just over 100 characters, with Ineffa making her playable debut in Version 5.8. Now, one of the game's earliest characters will soon have a new voice for her in-game dialogue.
Recasting has been nothing new for Genshin Impact, with the developer often switching out voice actors for one reason or another. Characters like Tighnari, Kinich, and Keqing have all received new voice actors, whether as a result of controversy involving the actor or the SAG-AFTRA voice actor strike, which only recently saw its conclusion. The recasting even saw one of Genshin Impact's most iconic voices leave the game, with Corina Boettger stepping down from voicing Paimon. A new update now reveals that Sucrose will soon be sporting a new voice.

Genshin Impact is Recasting Sucrose's English Voice Actor
Sucrose's change in voice actors comes as Genshin Impact has been embroiled in controversy over the voice actor strike. The strike saw several voice actors not providing any voice work for the company, with some characters going silent for several patches. While many characters were recast as a result of the strike, which notably did not specify HoYoverse as a target, other voice actors like Erika Harlacher as Venti and Zach Aguilar as Aether were able to return to Genshin Impact.
CloseThe newest recasting to hit Genshin Impact comes as the game is gearing up for its biggest update of the year. HoYoverse will launch the highly anticipated Version 6.0 next month, officially welcoming players to the Nod-Krai region. Genshin Impact has already teased several characters set to appear in the region, including Fatui Harbingers Sandrone and Columbina, Durin, and Alice among others. Genshin Impact fans should have lots to be excited for from the RPG throughout the coming weeks.
