Fans of legendary singer Woody Guthrie are getting the chance to hear some of his never heard before songs 58 years after he died.
The Woody Guthrie estate announced they will release a new album called Woody at Home, Vol. 1 and 2 on August 14. The album will include 20 songs and two spoken-word interludes that were performed by the folk legend before his death. In addition to including a new version of his famous song “This Land Is Your Land,” the album will also feature 13 songs that have not yet been released.

According to The New York Times, his publisher planned to have him work on songs they could sell as sheet music or to other performers. The "Crawdad Song" singer eventually filled 32 tapes with songs and messages, which ended up being his last original work.
The publishing company kept the recordings in good condition for the past five decades, though the Guthrie estate initially felt they weren't in good enough condition to release. “Since there was only one microphone, there was a real problem with the balance between Woody’s guitar and Woody’s vocal,” Steve Rosenthal, who produced the upcoming album, explained The Times.
