Pokemon GO has announced Wild Area 2025, which will introduce the Impidimp evolutionary line to the hit mobile game. The event is also set to expand Pokemon GO's shiny pool and offer a variety of other content.
The first iteration of Pokemon GO's Wild Area took place in November 2024. It started with a special in-person event in Fukuoka, Japan, on November 16 and 17, followed by a global debut a week later. The event featured Gigantamax Toxtricity and the then-new GO Safari Ball.
Nearly a year after Niantic announced Pokemon GO's Wild Area 2024, the company has confirmed the event will return this year. Wild Area 2025 will kick off in Nagasaki City, where an in-person event is planned for the November 7–9 period. This will be followed by a two-day global celebration taking place on November 15 and 16. Impidimp, Morgrem, and Grimmsnarl will make their Pokémon GO debuts throughout both instances, with the Dark/Fairy dual-type mons being positioned as the highlights of the happening.
Pokemon GO Wild Area 2025 Schedule
November 7–9: Nagasaki City, Japan event November 15–16: Global eventThe general idea behind the new Wild Area event is the same as its predecessor's, with Niantic looking to evoke the open, dynamic feel of hunting for pocket monsters in the recent mainline games. To that end, the event will see Pokemon GO's Mighty Pokemon make a return, serving as elusive wild encounters that have higher stats and can even be paired with some special moves their regular counterparts don't have access to. Shadow Darkrai and Shadow Cresselia will also appear in five-star raids for the duration of the event.
Wild Area 2025 will also see Shiny Hatenna debut in the popular mobile game, being implemented as a wild encounter. Pokemon GO players can also expect two rotating spawn hours featuring different mons. The first of those sounds like something from Persona 3, being called the Lurking Dark Hour, featuring spawn such as Alolan Meowth and Grimer, Gastly, Seedot, Skorupi, Stunky, and over a dozen other pocket monsters. Fanciful Fairy Hour will follow with increased spawn chances for Clefairy, Alolan Vulpix, Jigglypuff, Galarian Ponyta, Marill, Ralts, and many other Fairy-type mons.
The GO Safari Ball will return as a key item for capturing tough targets for the duration of the event. Players who purchase event tickets will receive access to Special Research with Dark or Fairy paths, avatar rewards, and increased Shiny odds. Limited-time research tasks will also feature thematically tied Pokemon. Looking at the big picture, Wild Area 2025 appears to reinforce Niantic's commitment to hybrid Pokemon GO events as a way to maintain interest in its 2016 game with a varied assortment of offerings.
