The new Trading system update for Pokemon TCG Pocket will change the feature forever, thanks to the introduction of the wishlist feature and some major improvements. This new update will be accompanied by the release of Wisdom of Sea and Sky, the latest expansion for Pokemon TCG Pocket.
Pokemon TCG Pocket quickly became one of the most successful mobile games of 2024 after its October launch, with over 10 million downloads in just two days. However, the release was not perfect, as trading has been a heavily criticized feature due to the implementation of trade tokens. Many players argued that Trade Tokens were a harsh restriction that dissuaded players from Trading frequently, and after considering player feedback, The Pokemon Company decided to discontinue Trade Tokens with a new Pokemon TCG Pocket update. That long-awaited update will be released on July 29 at 11:00 p.m. PT / July 30 at 2:00 a.m. ET, with crucial adjustments and changes being made to trading.

A New Pokemon TCG Pocket Shiny Card is a Controversy Waiting to Happen
Pokemon TCG Pocket's upcoming Wisdom of Sea and Sky set already has a potentially controversial card, no matter how it handles it.
Posts 1The Trade feature update for Pokemon TCG Pocket is shaping up to be a game-changer, as it will allow players to set up a Trading wishlist and share which cards they would like to trade with others. Pokemon TCG Pocket players can navigate their wishlists from the My Cards screen, and each wishlist can support up to 20 cards, according to The Pokemon Company. From the cards in their wishlists, players can highlight three cards to display on their profiles to give others an idea of what the player is exactly looking for.
Pokemon TCG Pocket July 30 Update Brings Trading Wishlist Feature and Discontinues Trade Tokens for Good
CloseWhen coupled with the discontinuation of Trade Tokens, the Trading feature will be streamlined to help players trade for the cards they want. After the update's release, players will no longer need to exchange cards in order to obtain said tokens for the purpose of Trading. Instead, Shinedust will be required for certain rarities of cards in Pokemon TCG Pocket, including three-diamond, four-diamond, and one-star cards. Shinedust can be acquired by completing in-game missions, earning achievements, and obtaining duplicate cards. It should be noted that any remaining Trade Tokens can be exchanged for Shinedust or 60-pack Hourglasses as well.
The long-term effects of the revised Trading system remain to be seen, but the addition of the Trading wishlist feature and removal of Trade Tokens appear to be steps in the right direction. Players will be able to test out these features with an abundance of new cards from Pokemon TCG Pocket's Wisdom of Sea and Sky expansion on July 30. The expansion brings beloved Pokemon native to the Johto region, as previously seen in the Pokemon Gold and Pokemon Silver video games. These Pokemon include Chikorita, Cyndaquil and Totodile, as well as the Legendary Pokemon Lugia and Ho-Oh.
