Blizzard has finally given players a first look at World of Warcraft: Midnight via an epic cinematic trailer featuring Xal’atath, Lor’themar, and Liadrin in a showdown at the Sunwell. Four new zones, the Haranir allied race, a third Demon Hunter specialization, and much more arrives in World of Warcraft: Midnight in early 2026.

Gamescom has wrapped up its Opening Night Live presentation, which previewed dozens of new games and exclusive reveals. World of Warcraft was among those present at the showcase, where it finally debuted Midnight, the second expansion of the Worldsoul Saga, with an epic Blizzard cinematic.

World of Warcraft: Midnight's Epic Cinematic Trailer

During the trailer, titled "Intercession," WoW Worldsoul Saga antagonist Xal’atath launches an assault on the sacred Sunwell of Quel’thalas as Lor’themar Theron, Lady Liadrin, and the Blood Elves seek to stop her at all costs. While Lor’themar holds off the Harbinger and her minions, Liadrin falls back to the Sunwell, beseeching it for help. At the darkest hour, it answers her prayers, seemingly sending a legion of unidentified Paladins to her aid. Together, they begin pushing back against the forces of the Void.

World of Warcraft also put out a short gameplay trailer that reveals tons of information about the expansion. Four new zones – Eversong Woods, Zul’Aman, Harandar, and the Voidstorm – will greet fans at launch, along with a level cap of 90, the Haranir Allied Race, and the Prey system. Demon Hunter players in World of Warcraft will also gain access to the Void-themed Devourer specialization, a mid-range DPS playstyle, plus the ability for Void Elves to choose the class.

Rather than a single launch raid, World of Warcraft: Midnight will have three: The Void Spire, The Dreamrift, and March on Quel’Danas. Nine bosses will be split across these encounters, including Dominus-Lord Averzian, Salhadaar, and “undreamt god” deep within a “permeable veil between primordial dreams and brutal reality,” culminating in a final battle at the Sunwell. Eight dungeons are coming in the expansion, including some noteworthy locations like Windrunner Spire, Magister’s Terrace, and Murder Row. What's more, Delves return with 10 instances spread across the Midnight zones, a new Nemesis, and Valeera Sanguinar replacing Brann as the NPC companion for WoW: Midnight.

This is only the tip of the iceberg that is WoW: Midnight. A revamped starting experience, free transmogging, and a new PvP Battleground await players as well. Fans can expect to learn even more about this exciting release over the rest of Gamescom.
