Diablo 4 Rolls Back July 15 Update

KaliyahGames2025-07-175050

Diablo 4 just rolled back its big July 15 update on PC due to problems causing clients to crash. At present, there is no word on how long it will take Diablo 4 to fix the servers and return to the 2.3.1 build, but in the meantime, fans can still enjoy the game as it was before the patch.

On July 15, Diablo 4 released its first significant update after the launch of Season 9, Sins of the Horadrim. This patch included a bunch of bug fixes, quality-of-life improvements, and buffs for every class.

However, it seems like some unexpected issues have thrown a wrench in Blizzard’s plans. Players on PC reported some major client crashes after the patch was released. In response, Diablo 4 community manager Marcoose announced in a forum post that Blizzard had rolled back the PC clients back to 2.3.0, the build of Diablo 4 that went live with Season 9’s release on July 1.

There is currently no word on how long this rollback will last. While the issue will hopefully be fixed soon, players could find themselves waiting for a few days if it turns out to be more complex than the developers expected. Either way, the rollback seems to only be on the PC client, so gamers on Xbox or PlayStation platforms should be able to enjoy the new update presently. PC gamers can still play the game, but without the changes that were supposed to go live in Diablo 4 on July 15.

Unfortunately, this means the Gift of the Tree event that was supposed to go live with the patch was also affected by this delay. Diablo social and content marketing director Adam Fletcher confirmed that players can expect the event to be extended to make up for time lost by the patch’s rollback in a post on Twitter.

Regardless, it seems like there is some big news for Diablo 4 on the horizon. Several Diablo 4 content creators recently got a sneak peek at the future of the game, and their reports were glowing. While fans will have to wait to see what exactly they are talking about, it sounds like the next seasons and expansions for Diablo 4 are going to be pretty exciting. Hopefully, the development team can learn from the hiccups it experienced during this update to ensure future ones can launch with fewer incidents.
