Dying Light: The Beast will no longer release in August, as developer Techland has said it needs an additional four weeks of polishing time to make this "the best Dying Light game we’ve ever released." Dying Light: The Beast was initially going to launch for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC on August 22, followed by a last-gen release later in the year, but will now be launching on September 19. It's unclear if the game's release on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One has also been affected by this delay.
Initially, Dying Light: The Beast started out as a DLC for Dying Light 2. However, after eager fans managed to leak some story elements for the game's second DLC, Techland says it began toying with the idea of bringing back Kyle Crane, the protagonist of the original Dying Light. The idea then turned into something much larger than a DLC, and Dying Light: The Beast was born. Although this isn't technically Dying Light 3, Techland has said that it's treating it as such. Unfortunately, with the third installment becoming so big, Techland has now said it needs a few extra weeks to ensure the title is polished and ready to go.

State of Decay 3 Already Has a Leg Up on Dying Light: The Beast in One Regard
Dying Light: The Beast may arrive before State of Decay 3, but the latter already has a major edge on the zombie competition.
PostsDying Light: The Beast's release date has officially been pushed back from August 22 to September 19. In a new statement, Techland says it feels the excitement from players after more than 150 previews from journalists and content creators went live this week. While feedback has been largely positive, with some even calling it a "standout game of 2025," the studio says it has opted to delay the game by an additional 4 weeks to "allow for extra polishing work." Techland says it will be using the time to finetune the balance of gameplay elements, look into the clarity of the UI, increase the quality of physics, and tweak cutscenes and player animations further.
Dying Light: The Beast Now Releases September 19
The studio explained that it was "blushing" over the positive previews for Dying Light: The Beast. "It proved the gut feeling that we had already - we’re making a very special, fun game," Techland said. The studio's statement goes on to explain how it is now effortlessly reading and collecting feedback and opinions to ensure that fans' voices are being heard. Although the delay is going to be disappointing for fans, Techland says it intends to make Dying Light: The Beast the best Dying Light game ever released, which is why it is taking the extra 4 weeks to make things as perfect as they can be.
CloseThe wait for Dying Light: The Beast might be a little longer than expected, but the good news is that some Dying Light 2 players will receive the third game for free. As mentioned previously, The Beast started out as a DLC for Dying Light 2, which means it should have been included with the game's Ultimate Edition. To honor this promise, Techland has confirmed that anybody who owns the Ultimate Edition of Dying Light 2 (which has now been delisted) will receive The Beast at no extra cost.
