ArellaGames2025-07-287720

A new update for Lords of the Fallen is now live across all platforms, which introduces optional PvP to the fantasy action RPG. The feature has been requested by players since the title originally launched in 2023, and the Lords of the Fallen development team has delivered as it continues to vet player feedback and implement changes to keep the experience fresh and enjoyable.

A follow-up to the 2014 title of the same name, Lords of the Fallen is known for its difficulty, with the game boasting a vibe and combat system similar to those found in FromSoftware titles like Dark Souls and Bloodborne. Nearly two years after its launch, developer Hexworks continues to roll out large updates and patches for the title, with Lord of the Fallen's June 2025 update fixing a slew of frustrating bugs and improving performance while also improving PvP matchmaking. Now, even more changes have been made, with one likely to make many fans of the title very happy.

Announced in a Twitter post on the game's official account, Lords of the Fallen has added optional PvP in the new Version 2.0.51 update, which is now live on all platforms. PvP will now be turned off by default, and can be toggled on at the user's leisure. Additionally, the new patch offers new rewards for players who keep invasions active, along with a new lamp guidance HUD prompt to make navigation easier. Many fans responded to the news positively in the comments, with some indicating that they'd be returning to the game for the first time in a while to try out the change. This could be a major boon for the developer, as, despite reaching 5.5 million players earlier this month, Lords of the Fallen has yet to make a profit. Finding ways to pull in new players may finally lead to the title breaking even, at the very least.

In May 2024, Lords of the Fallen publisher CI Games was hit with layoffs, losing around 30 employees as a result of ongoing restructuring efforts. While it seems that the action RPG wasn't impacted by this loss of staff, many fans were baffled by the move, as Lords of the Fallen had managed to sell one million copies in its first 10 days, leading CI Games to report its highest year-over-year growth in net revenue since the company was founded.
